Hey explorer,

A couple of weeks back, my friends visited the most visited temples in the world, Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala. Unfortunately, there are no direct buses to take you to the temple but to go through Tirupati.

With a misbelief that Tirupati is also a spiritual place like Tirumala, they came home without enjoying it (which I assume was a foolish decision). The city is more than that. Tirupati has all you need to enjoy the city, from spirituality to adventure.

Here's how you can enjoy Tirupati, unlike my friend's misled minds.

Why Tirupati?

Imagine yourself at the green hills, a gentle breeze carrying the scent of spices touching you that makes you float, and every step you take feels heavenly here. Remember how our parents always say, "visit some temple" when you look irritated and tired from work pressure?

Although that can be true to some extent, the other side of us still wants something even better. So, why not take a trip to Tirupati? Because it's a place where spirituality meets adventure, history meets warmth, and every corner promises a new discovery.

It's a city that will leave you feeling renewed, inspired, and with a heart full of unforgettable memories.

Hey Hey!

How about we learn something each time we discover a new place or break down the history of a place you might have heard once at least?

Kudos if you answered "The Golden City" to the last question. Let's see if you can get this also right.

Overview

Tirupati's story stretches back centuries. People believe the city's name came from "Tri-Kuta," meaning "three hills," referring to the Seshachalam hills where the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple resides. Since the 3rd century BC, many empires have left their mark on the city's architecture and traditions.

Tirupati sits amidst the rolling hills of the Seshachalam range. While the city sits on a relatively flat plain, the nearby Tirumala hills rise, reaching 2,800 feet. The Swarnamukhi River flows through the region, adding a touch of calmness to city life.

In other words, Tirupati and Tirumala are known for Lord Venkateshwara, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Daily life revolves around temple rituals and festivals. The city will be attractive during festivals like Vaikunta Ekadashi and Brahmotsavam

Telugu is the primary language spoken in Tirupati. Although people come here worldwide, some parts of the city can only understand Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi. Yet, you can hear English in most tourist areas. However, knowing a few Telugu phrases can help you a lot.

- Hello - నమస్తే - Namaste
- Thank you - ధన్యవాదాలు - Dhanyavaadalu

Tirupati experiences hot summers with temperatures reaching 40°C. The monsoon season brings some relief with heavy rains, followed by pleasant winters with comfortable temperatures around 20°C. So, the best time to visit Tirupati is in the winter
