From our last trip to Polo Forest in Gujarat, we went up north to explore this hidden and untouched beauty of Rajasthan. We couldn't stop wondering about how it remained unnoticed yet.

I am spilling all the secrets about this hidden Rajasthani place, Mount Abu, for you today. So, you will not make the same mistake of unnoticing it on your next adventurous trip to Rajasthan.

Why Mount Abu?

Picture this. You are on one side of the state where there is no need to urge for green spaces, while you can't find even a 100-meter place of green land fully on the other side. The temperature where you are is moderate, while the climate over the other side is boiling. Yet, people flock to the deserted part of the state. 

How good is it - rolling hills to connect deep within yourself, rocky plateaus to take your creativity a step further, and a beautiful sunset to enjoy a peaceful evening? And all this by yourself and a group of fellow travellers. No crowds and no rushing. 

As the only hill station in Rajasthan, Mount Abu attracts people with a promise of relaxation from the scorching desert heat. The cool air, surrounded by the rugged beauty of the Aravalli Range, creates a different charm.

History

Every step you take in this nature's beauty tells a different story about discovering through serving as a tourist spot today. Nestled in the Aravalli Range, Mount Abu's history traces back to ancient times, rooted in tales of Arbuda saving sage Vashishtha.

Once a pilgrimage site for sages during the Chauhan and Parmar rule, Mount Abu later went under various dynasties, including the British Raj. One among the several historical treasures is the Dilwara Jain Temples, the architectural marvels from the 11th to 13th centuries.

• By Train

Abu Road is the nearest railway station, around 28 km from Mount Abu. Several trains connect Abu Road to major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad. Then, You can hire a taxi or take a local bus to Mount Abu.

• By Road

Mount Abu is well-connected by road, and you can either drive or take a bus from nearby cities like Udaipur, Ahmedabad, or Jaipur. The scenic drive through the Aravalli Range adds to the charm of your journey.

Being the nearest city to Mount Abu, taking a bus or public transport from Udaipur to this scenic beauty can cost you from ₹200.
