🏔 A Travel Itinerary For Goa's Best-Kept Secret

A Journey Beyond the Beaches

Hey explorer,

It was great exploring the southern part of India. From Andhra Pradesh to Kerala, every place we visited so far has left us with unique experiences.

As we travelled more, our thirst to make our trips even more adventurous has only increased. So, this time, we decided to take a break from South India and explore the western part of the nation.

We recently went to this place hidden in the Western Ghats of the second smallest state in India - Goa. Man, I am speechless! It was so beautiful and adventurous that we felt bad as we left it.

Here's everything you should know about it.

Why Chorla Ghat?

Imagine walking at a place where tall trees dressed in green accompany you for as long as you walk. The farther you walk, the more greenery the surroundings become, with rolling hills wrapped in mist.

You walk, and before you say, "I can't," you will hear the echo of a hidden waterfall that boosts your spirit to explore it. Isn't this a bit adventurous?

In the heart of Goa, at the intersection of the other two neighbouring states, Maharashtra and Karnataka, lies Chorla Ghat. It's a home for nature lovers and adventure seekers, offering a peaceful escape into the Western Ghats' untouched beauty.

Basic Information

History

Although the stunning views of Ghat may enchant you with its untouched beauty, Chorla Ghat boasts a rich historical background, with tales dating back centuries.

It served as an ancient trade route connecting Goa to Belgaum, seeing the passage of merchants and traders exchanging goods. The remains of this historical significance are still visible in the form of ancient trails and pathways. Since then, its enchanting beauty has been attracting people.

Geography

Beach, setting sun, drinks of your choice, and the right person next to you witnessing your words, "Ha, what a perfect evening." Isn't it the holiday spot we all aim for? I mean, who doesn't love beaches? But Chorla Ghats takes you beyond that.

Surrounded by the green Western Ghats, Chorla Ghat is home to various hills, valleys, and dense forests. As you travel through the winding roads, the breathtaking and panoramic views of the nearest villages and towns can't stop you from sticking to your camera.

Local Culture

Remember the first conversation you once had with a local person who replied with a broad smile and put all his wit into giving the best answer possible? How satisfying? Well, the Konkani people are just like that. The communities here, deeply rooted in tradition, welcome you with warmth

Engaging with the local customs and rituals gives you knowledge about the vibrant Chorla Ghat's cultural heritage. Immersing yourself in the local culture is one of the essential aspects of the Chorla Ghat experience.

Language Used

The best part of exploring different sites in India is that you will use at least a few sentences of language you once thought you could not even spell a few words. Although most places around the ghats are remote, people can still understand English better, even if their regional language is Konkani

However, a few words in Konkani can go a long way in forging connections with the locals and increasing your cultural experience.

Climatic Conditions

Chorla Ghat enjoys a moderate climate, making it an ideal year-round destination. However, the monsoons transform the landscape into a lush, vibrant canvas, with waterfalls rushing down the hillsides, creating a balanced nature's melodies.

Yet, we recommend you visit during the winter months, October to February, to avoid getting stuck in the pouring rains and boiling summers.
